Fjellsangin Short-Term Rental Agreement

This Short-Term Rental Agreement (“Agreement”) is made between Fjellsangin (the “Host”) and the reserving guest (“Guest” or “You”) upon acceptance and confirmation of a reservation at Fjellsangin, located at the base of Mount Rainier National Park.

Please review this Agreement in full. By completing a reservation, you acknowledge and accept these terms and authorize the Host to process payment as outlined.

1. Reservation and Payment Terms

  • Deposit: A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking; the remaining balance is due 14 days before check-in.

  • Full Payment: Required at time of booking if reservation is within 45 days.

  • Accepted Payment: Credit card only for online reservations.

A credit card must be kept on file to cover any damages or additional cleaning costs incurred.
Charges include lodging, taxes, a cleaning fee, and guest protection coverage. Fees are subject to change in accordance with local tax laws.

2. Confirmation and Access

Upon acceptance, you will receive a reservation confirmation by email. The day before arrival, you’ll receive a digital welcome packet with access instructions, check-in procedures, and a personalized door code.

3. Check-In / Check-Out

  • Check-In: 4:00 PM or later

  • Check-Out: 11:00 AM or earlier

  • Early check-in/late check-out may be arranged in advance for an additional fee.

  • Unapproved early arrivals or late departures will incur a fee.

  • Guests agree to leave the property in good condition and complete the Departure Checklist provided on-site.

4. Cancellation Policy

Cancel 30+ days in advance: full refund minus a $75 administrative fee (which can be applied toward a future stay within 6 months).

Cancel within 30 days: payment is non-refundable unless we can rebook the dates. If rebooked, we’ll refund the recovered portion.

Refunds & Weather

Fjellsangin is a year-round retreat—and sometimes, nature has plans of its own.

We do not offer refunds for weather events, road closures, travel delays, or power/internet outages, but we’ll always do what we can to support your stay.

Travel insurance is highly recommended, especially during the winter months.

All cancellations must be submitted in writing.

5. Guest Protection & Insurance

Fjellsangin does not collect a traditional security deposit. Instead, your reservation includes protection through our Guest Protection Program powered by Truvi, which helps cover accidental damage during your stay.

This program provides coverage for certain accidental damages, so long as they are reported promptly to the Host during your stay. Damages not reported, as well as those resulting from negligence, misuse, or intentional acts, may still be the financial responsibility of the Guest.

Guests agree to report any accidental damage immediately so we can initiate a claim and ensure a smooth resolution.

6. Premises Condition & Repairs

Fjellsangin is carefully maintained; however, if an issue arises during your stay, contact the Host immediately. We will make every reasonable effort to remedy the situation promptly.
Issues reported after checkout cannot be addressed or refunded.

7. Force Majeure

No refunds or reservation changes are provided for delays or interruptions caused by weather, natural disasters, illness, emergencies, pandemics, or power outages beyond our control. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

8. Hot Tub and Sauna Use

Guests agree to follow posted safety and sanitation guidelines for the hot tub and electric sauna. Use of these amenities is restricted to guests 12 years of age and older, consistent with Fjellsangin's minimum age policy.

These amenities are serviced regularly. Maintenance may occur during your stay. If a mechanical issue arises, Guests may be eligible for a $15 refund per 24-hour period of non-functionality (up to $75 total), provided the issue is reported promptly and is not caused by guest misuse.

Guests assume all risk associated with use of these features and release Host and Owner from liability.

9. Maximum Occupancy

Fjellsangin accommodates a maximum of 6 guests. All guests must be 12 years of age or older. This limit is strictly enforced at all times, including for daytime visitors. Large gatherings, parties, or events are not permitted. Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of the rental without refund.

10. Age Requirement

The Primary Guest must be at least 25 years of age and present during the entire stay. Proof of ID may be required at booking.

All guests on the reservation, regardless of whether they are the Primary Guest, must be at least 12 years of age. Fjellsangin is a wellness-focused retreat designed for adults and older teens. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The Primary Guest is responsible for ensuring all individuals on the Premises meet this requirement and for the conduct of all members of their party.

11. Quiet Enjoyment & Use

Fjellsangin is a retreat designed for peaceful stays. Disruptive behavior, unauthorized guests, loud music, or actions that disturb neighbors will result in immediate termination of the rental without refund.

• No subletting or events
• No parties, weddings, reunions, or group gatherings
• No fireworks, firearms, or illegal substances

🔥 No Smoking or Vaping – $500 Penalty
Smoking, vaping, or the use of any tobacco, marijuana, or similar products is strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises — including inside the cabin, on the deck, and throughout the surrounding property.
A $500 fee will be charged for any evidence of smoking or vaping, including lingering odor, ash, or damage. This fee covers deep cleaning and ozone remediation to restore the property to a smoke-free standard.

• Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM

12. Internet Access

Wi-Fi is provided as a courtesy and is generally reliable. However, due to our remote location, occasional outages or slow speeds may occur. No refunds will be issued for internet issues.

13. Personal Property

Guest is responsible for their belongings. The Host and Property Owner are not liable for theft, loss, or damage to personal items.

14. Pets

No pets are permitted at Fjellsangin under any circumstances.
Guests who bring unauthorized pets will be charged a minimum $250 cleaning fee and may be asked to vacate the property immediately without refund.

15. Parking and Vehicles

• No RVs, trailers, or boats permitted
• Please observe posted parking signs and snow advisories during winter months
• No off-roading or tent setups allowed

16. Additional Rental Rules

Guests agree to the following during their stay:

  • Do not rearrange or remove furniture

  • Lock all doors when leaving the cabin

  • All guests must meet the minimum age requirement of 12 years — see Section 10

  • Use caution on exterior stairs and decks, especially in wet or icy conditions

  • Respect the natural surroundings and leave no trace

17. Disputes and Claims

Disputes arising from this Agreement must be submitted within one year of departure and will be resolved by arbitration, or in Small Claims Court as appropriate. Guest agrees not to pursue jury trials or exceed jurisdictional limits through counterclaims.

Chargeback disputes resolved in the Host’s favor may result in a $100 administrative fee billed to the Guest.

18. Indemnification and Assumption of Risk

Guest agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Fjellsangin, its owners, agents, and contractors from any liability, claim, or injury arising from Guest’s use of the Premises and its amenities.

19. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any disputes shall be handled within Pierce County, WA.

20. Entire Agreement

This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties. No oral or other statements shall be binding unless agreed to in writing. If any section is deemed invalid, the remainder shall remain in full effect.
