Notes from the Mountain
Life at the base of Mount Rainier moves with the rhythm of nature — mist, snowfall, rain, and sun each shaping the day in their own way.
Though the cabin is built for comfort in every season, mountain life can bring a few surprises.
Weather: Conditions shift quickly. Even in summer, mornings are cool and evenings crisp. Pack layers and check forecasts before you travel.
Power: On rare occasions, storms may cause brief outages. Fjellsangin is equipped with a backup generator, along with flashlights and lanterns, to ensure your comfort until full service is restored.
Roads: In winter, 4WD or AWD is recommended. Chains may be required for park access. We’ll notify you if the weather is expected to affect travel.
WiFi: Reliable high-speed internet is provided, though cell service may fade in the forest — a gentle cue to slow down.
Septic: Fjellsangin runs on a private system. Please flush only toilet paper and avoid pouring chemicals down drains to help protect the mountain environment.
Spaces to Unwind
Every corner of Fjellsangin was designed for calm—heat, light, texture, and quiet connection.
Sauna & Outdoor Shower
Your private cedar sauna offers a traditional Nordic heat experience just steps from the cabin.
Follow the Sauna Ritual Card to move through heat, cool, rest, and repeat.
The outdoor shower, open seasonally from late spring through early fall, provides a refreshing contrast — please turn off the valve after use to prevent freezing.
Hot Tub
Tucked beneath a cedar-anchored pavilion, the hot tub is open year-round — a perfect place to watch mist drift through the trees.
Please shower before use, avoid oils or glassware near the tub, and replace the cover after each session to preserve warmth and water clarity.
A Bluetooth speaker is provided for gentle music or ambient sound — ideal for slow evenings beneath the stars, surrounded by the hush of the forest.
Coffee & Tea Bar
Mornings here begin slowly.
Choose from DCR Coffee or Apolis Tea — with three ways to brew: Keurig, drip, or French press.
Mugs, honey, and a curated selection of spices are stocked in the pantry.
Reusable filters are provided to reduce waste, making each cup both thoughtful and flavorful.
Fire Pit
Gather outside under the mountain sky.
Your stay includes a starter bundle of wood and a natural fire starter, with extra bundles available on-site.
Use only the designated stone-ringed fire pit with boulder seating, and please ensure fires are completely extinguished before heading inside.
It’s the perfect place for a s’more, a story, or a long silence broken only by the crackle of flame.
Entertainment & Essentials
Fjellsangin is designed for both connection and quiet.
Enjoy Roku TVs in each bedroom and the great room, a Bluetooth Marshall speaker, and a Sony PlayStation for relaxed game nights or rainy afternoons.
You’ll also find board and card games, puzzles, and books for slow, screen-free moments.
Wrap up in handknit throws, adjust the climate control to your comfort, and settle into the balance between stillness and warmth.
